Thank you to everyone who turned out and voted. With nearly 60 percent turnout and over 300 votes, you showed what an engaged and passionate community can accomplish. Throughout this campaign, I championed practical solutions for healthier communities, stronger local businesses, and responsible stewardship of the environment. These values will continue to guide my work well beyond this contest. We truly left it all out on the field, and I could not have asked for better conversations or more dedicated supporters.
Although the result was not what I hoped for, Kallee's principled dedication and leadership have been evident from the start. I am happy to throw my weight behind making her our next Member of Parliament. My commitment to this region does not end there. I remain dedicated to helping our party grow and building local support in every corner of the East and West Kootenays. Through grassroots engagement, we need to invite new members and re-engage with you all, drawing on the positivity and collaboration I witnessed during my travels. By strengthening our membership, we can shape a future that truly reflects the voices of everyday people, who deserve secure housing, thriving local businesses, and well-managed resources that honor the natural beauty of our communities.
The conversations we started during these campaigns have sparked a coalition that believes in thoughtful, inclusive change. I invite you to continue these discussions with us, bring more people into this movement, and join me in learning from every community in our region. Thank you for your support, your engagement, and your commitment to a brighter tomorrow for us all.
Keith Page brings experience building community solutions across the Kootenay, Columbia and Elk Valleys. Growing up on a working cattle ranch near Three Hills, Alberta, he developed an early understanding of rural challenges and opportunities. After building a successful small tech business in Nelson, he stepped into public service, serving as:
City Councillor, Nelson (second term)
Nelson Director, Regional District of Central Kootenay
President, Association of Kootenay Boundary Local Governments (representing 31 local governments)
Kootenay Boundary Rep, Union of British Columbia Municipalities
Key Achievements:
Co-developed Nelson Next Climate Action Plan (75% GHG reduction by 2032)
Established cross-jurisdictional non-profit housing partnerships, putting hundred of units into the pipeline
Led local government team to successfully advocate medical travel support for rural residents
Modernized district regional recreation services to improve rural access, youth and senior supports, and transformation of management structure
Successfully led UBCM emergency resolution on carbon pricing reform for local governments
Real change starts with putting people first - building a future where workers have good-paying jobs, families can afford homes, and everyone has access to the care and services they need. For too long, the Liberals and Conservatives have favoured corporate profits over people’s well-being, leaving communities struggling with affordability and insecurity.
I know we can create real opportunities in the Kootenays by investing in local economies, strengthening public services, and building safer, more affordable communities. That means creating stable jobs, with fair wages, building affordable homes, that meet the needs of families, and expanding healthcare supports, that cover prescriptions, dental care, and provide mental health support.
It also means delivering the secure retirement Canadians deserve, ensuring no one is left behind, and tackling the root causes of crime and addiction with compassion and accountability. My commitment is to bring better service, stronger representation, and practical solutions back to the Columbia Kootenays—because real prosperity is built from the ground up, by and for the people who call this region home.
Leadership isn't about having all the answers - it's about bringing together the right voices to find solutions. As President of the Association of Kootenay Boundary Local Governments and the Kootenay Boundary Representative on the UBCM board, I've focused on breaking down old silos and building teams that harness everyone's strengths. By fostering open dialogue and empowering new voices, we've transformed stagnant committees into dynamic groups that tackle our region's toughest challenges.
From modernizing recreation agreements to securing medical travel funding, our success comes from creating spaces where every perspective is heard and every talent counts. This collaborative approach has helped us build consensus on complex issues and deliver real results for our communities.
In my roles as a Nelson, BC Councillor, Regional Director in the Central Kootenay, and President of the Association of Kootenay Boundary Local Governments (AKBLG), I prioritize both environmental stewardship and reconciliation with Indigenous communities. Implementing the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) has guided these efforts, prompting us to integrate Indigenous perspectives into our decision-making processes and ensure equitable representation.
Our work involves close relationships with the Sinixt (Arrow Lakes), Ktunaxa, Syilx (Okanagan), and Secwépemc (Shuswap) Nations, each of which maintains deep historical ties to this region. By engaging with Elders and knowledge-keepers, we learn about traditional land stewardship practices and cultural values that inform effective watershed restoration, habitat conservation, and climate resilience initiatives.
To support this collaboration, we offer cultural competency training for staff, leaders, and community members, going beyond simple awareness-raising to cultivate a respectful, ongoing dialogue. We’ve have supported projects that protect key habitats, advance sustainable forest management, foster new economic opportunities in green infrastructure and eco-tourism, and reformed bylaws and policies to include first nation as equal members in our organizations.
Ultimately, by combining reconciliation efforts with sound environmental policies, we strive to build a healthier, more inclusive future for all who call the Kootenays home.
Councillor/Director - City of Nelson
